What is recorded here
Enclosure: the Old Fort in Fathom Lower, County Armagh, Ireland, is an old fort whose exact age and builders have not survived to certainty. Its stones or earthworks may have marked a home, a refuge or a boundary, while people came and went under skies no longer named. What is certain is that the land still holds the shape of a choice made long before memory faded.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as ENCLOSURE: THE OLD FORT. Recorded period: UNCERTAIN. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
