Scroggy Fort rises in Maine South as an enclosure whose age remains unknown, forcing imagination to fill the gap left by time. Its stones may have marked a home, a refuge or a boundary for people whose names vanished before writing arrived. The uncertainty does not weaken the place; it refuses the false certainty of invented history.
