What is recorded here

Enclosure in Rathgeran is a small overgrown field in County Carlow, Ireland, marked on the 1839 map as a circular enclosure about thirty-five metres across. It still carries the local name Rathgeran, though vegetation has buried much of its shape. The place may have served as a boundary marker, dwelling or ritual site, but no surviving account confirms which. What remains is a hidden circle waiting to be remembered.

In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
