Enclosure in Milltown — Report the wrong picture

What is recorded here

On a gentle W-facing slope, in improved pasture, with reasonable views of the surrounding landscape to W and N. Depicted on the 25-inch OS map as a large oval enclosure (c. 54m NW-SE; c. 37m NE-SW) which is truncated by a tertiary road (long-axis NNE-SSW) across the ESE-sector. The monument has been levelled with very little trace to W of the tertiary road. The low profile remains evident to ESE of the road are defined by a scarp (Wth 1m; H 0.1m) and a fosse (basal Wth 0.65m; overall Wth 3.25m; D 0.2m) NE-SE. A cropmark is not readily visible on modern aerial photography due to shadows cast by the adjacent tree-lined field boundaries (Digital Globe 2012). Identified during cartographic analysis of OS mapping for the Clare Archaeological Survey 2017.
