What is recorded here
This enclosure is situated SE of Lissalussa (Lios an Losa) rath (KE020-070----). It is not marked on any edition of the OS maps. All that survives today is a semi-circular earthen bank which is cut on its NE side by a fieldbank running in a NW-SE direction. Another fieldbank cuts through the S sector in a SW-NE direction. The surviving enclosing bank is 5m-8m wide and .6m high. In 1969 the bottom of a quern stone and some bones were discovered on this site (National Museum of Ireland Archaeological Acquisitions 1969, 25).
The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 1083. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
