What is recorded here

Knockanaddoge holds a hidden circular enclosure beside a possible moated site on the Castlecomer plateau. It no longer shows at ground level, but grass and soil still cover the shape seen from above. The place stands at the edge of the land, looking down toward the Dinin river, remembering a time when people marked this spot for keeping, worship or life.

On a slight SW-facing slope on a terrace, just below the crest of hills at the edge of the Castlecomer plateau overlooking the Dinin river to the S, in rolling grassland. There are good views to the S and along the valley. Located immediately S of the E end of the SE side of a possible moated site (KK011-001001-). Identified as a circular cropmark (diam. c. 15m) on an aerial photograph (GSI 1973-77). The enclosure is not visible at ground level. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 30 January 2019
