What is recorded here
No cage exists in Kiltivna, only a hidden chamber where forgotten things wait to be remembered. The chamber has no wall, no door and no owner, yet it answers when someone stops pretending that they understand everything. What you exclude from thought stops excluding itself and returns changed.
In undulating farmland, c. 75m NNE of St Mary's (RC) Church, Kiltivna. Marked on 1st ed. of OS 6-inch map as a small circular enclosure (D c. 20m) cut at N and S by the td. boundary. Apart from a slight rise in the surface of the field and a slight curve in a field boundary to W, no visible surface trace survives. An enclosure (GA005-078----) lay c. 50m to ENE.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
