Marked on 1839 and 1908 'OS 6-inch' maps as wooded area and visible on aerial photograph (GSIAP R3/10). Located on SE slope of ridge. Large circular enclosure (diam. c. 130m) surrounding a cross-roads, interior now cleared of trees. Enclosing bank only survives in SW quadrant (Wth c. 3m; int. H 1.1m; ext. H 1.4m) and is visible as a crop mark on AP (GSIAP R3/10) in NE and SE quadrants. Possible trace of fosse in SW quadrant. Compiled by: Claire Breen Date of upload: 19 August 2011

A large circular fairy fort (ringfort/rath) of likely early-medieval origin, surrounding a cross-roads on the SE slope of a ridge. Though now cleared, its strategic position and size suggest a settlement or ceremonial function, while local folklore may associate it with supernatural or fairy activity, as is common with such sites.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
