Enclosure in Carrowkeel (ballymoe By.) — Report the wrong picture

What is recorded here

Flaherty's Fort, a subcircular enclosure about fifty metres wide, once stood near the summit of a hill in Carrowkeel. Now only a small section of earthen bank remains at the south, while the rest has vanished into the undulating pastureland. A ringfort lies three hundred metres to the west-northwest, suggesting a cluster of ancient defences. The loss of the main structure invites wonder about what life and purpose filled that space before the land reclaimed it.

Near the summit of a hill in undulating pastureland. Marked on 1st ed. of OS 6-inch map as a subcircular enclosure (E-W c. 50m). Known locally as 'Flaherty's Fort' (Neary 1914, 116, no. 92). Apart from a small section of an earthen bank at S, no visible surface trace survives. A ringfort (GA017-035----) lies c. 300m to WNW.
