Enclosure in Canearagh

The remains of this small, subcircular enclosure, not marked on the OS maps, are located in rough grazing land on the high W slopes of Beenreagh mountain. The site affords a far-reaching view to N over Coomaglaslaw and Coomasaharn lakes and along the Behy river valley. The enclosure measures 10.9m x 9.1m internally, and is defined by a wall of boulders and small stones. This wall survives to .5m in height and is .7m in width. A short distance to SW a semicircular outline of boulders is all that remains of a possible second enclosure (KE071-049001-). It has an internal diameter of 22m, and its wall averages .65m wide.
