This bronze commemorative plaque records: Dr Elsie Inglis 1864-1917
Dr Elsie Inglis was a pioneering Scottish doctor who founded maternity hospitals and nursing homes for women, and she led medical units to front lines during World War I when British authorities initially rejected her offer of assistance.
