Ellon Parish Church stands on Castle Road beside a medieval burial ground where the Annand Memorial still marks the earth. The churchyard has watched the town grow since medieval times, keeping the names and bodies of those who lived under Aberdeenshire skies. The Annand Memorial rose in the 17th Century to hold one life in stone while the older graves around it stayed unnamed.
