Elizabeth Fry was a prominent British Quaker philanthropist who significantly improved conditions for prisoners, particularly women, through her advocacy and establishment of the Association for the Improvement of the Female Prisoners in Newgate; her reforms influenced prison management practices both nationally and internationally.
