18-21 Castle Street

Terraced Housing

What is recorded here

Castle Street in Powys held four stone houses when the medieval era ended. They stood shoulder to shoulder, sharing walls and probably hearing every argument, cough and song from one room to the next. People may have born, loved, argued and died inside those thin partitions while the street changed around them. The houses are not a grand palace, but they are the place where ordinary life repeated itself for generations.
The National Monuments Record of Wales records 18-21 Castle Street as Terraced Housing from the Post Medieval period. The saved point comes from the official national record. Inclusion does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
