St Donnan's Roman Catholic Church on Eigg is associated with St Donnan, a 6th-century Irish monk and martyr, who is traditionally credited with establishing a monastery on the island. Local tradition holds that St Donnan was killed by pirates, and his relics are said to have been enshrined at the site, attracting pilgrims and fostering a legacy of spiritual devotion on Eigg.
