Castle Hillock in Angus is a motte and bailey castle where a natural mound was levelled into a defensive platform for the Stirlings of Glenesk before the Crawford Lindsays acquired the estate in 1358. The bailey stretched beside a deep ravine and ditched boundary, while a wet pit nearby may have served as a drowning place or minor prison, depending which local account you trust. Much of the earthwork has faded into pasture, but the steep knoll still rises where medieval people shaped land, fear and residence into one small violent machine.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Edzell, Castle Hillock as No Class (event) (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Edzell, Castle Hillock is a medieval hill fort associated with the Leslie family, who were prominent in the area during the 14th and 15th centuries. It is remembered for its strategic position in the Scottish Borders and its role in local defense and territorial control.
