This green commemorative plaque records: The Unicorn Hotel. This ancient coaching inn was much used for meetings and entertainments in Georgian times, and was later patronised by Edward VII when Prince of Wales. One landlord, Robert Collinson, was four times Mayor (1876-80). Recorded plaque organisation: Ripon Civic Society.
The Unicorn Hotel served as a significant meeting place during the Georgian era and was frequented by future King Edward VII when he was Prince of Wales; Robert Collinson, who managed the hotel, notably held the position of Mayor of Ripon four times between 1876-1880.
