This blue commemorative plaque records: Cross House. In 1810 Edward Ensor erected a Glove Factory in the grounds. His younger brother Thomas took over the factory in 1837. In 1900, the business was sold to Southcombe & Sons of Tintinhull, but still traded under the Ensor name.
Edward and Thomas Ensor were brothers who established and operated a significant glove manufacturing factory in Cross House grounds from 1810. Their factory contributed notably to the local economy and industry until its sale in 1900, maintaining their legacy through continued use of the Ensor name.
A plaque record does not grant entry to a building or private land. View it from a public place unless permission is clearly given.
