What is recorded here
Edmund Fitzgibbon was born around 1552 in Ballylegan, County Cork, the son of a man stripped of his name and lands by royal decree. He spent decades bleeding for a crown that wanted him dead, trading loyalty for leases and leases for forgiveness. When he finally cornered the rebel Earl of Desmond in caves near Mitchelstown, Elizabeth returned everything his father lost. The state rewarded the knife only after the throat was cut.
