Castle Street in Edinburgh, not the famous castle, holds a row of tenement houses built in the 18th century. Numbers 25 to 29 and 29a still stand where they were first raised, their walls packed close together on a narrow street. They are not a palace or a museum, but ordinary working buildings that have watched the city change for centuries.
