Castle Terrace rose in Edinburgh in 1831, shaping a narrow strip where residential floors sat above commercial space. The building still stands as a tenement and shop, its stone facade marking the line between private life and public trade. It is not clear whether the front room still sells or has become something else entirely, but the structure remains a visible participant in the city's continuous change.
