What is recorded here

Castle Street in Edinburgh still holds a first world war memorial inside a twentieth century shop. The building has worn many commercial skins, but the memorial remains the clearest reason to remember it. Whether it marked a soldier, a family loss or a whole street, that purpose survived every later fit out.
