What is recorded here

Castle Street is a narrow cut through the old town where thirty-one and thirty-three still stand as an eighteenth-century house and flat, later sharpened into a nineteenth-century shop. The buildings are small enough to force people past each other, yet large enough to keep rooms, ledgers and lives hidden behind ordinary fronts. They belong to the city's densest layers, where domestic warmth and commercial ambition occupied the same stones.
