Castlelaw Road tilts slightly upward through Gortonlee, pulling a person out of the ordinary city and into a place where memory keeps its own shape. The villa at number six stands as a twentieth-century chamber for that much quieter human life. It may have held love, loss, laughter or loneliness, but the road still carries those possibilities without needing them named.
