What is recorded here
Mcleod Street in Edinburgh once hosted a nursery school where small children learned to exist together before they learned to write. The building stands inside the city, not outside it, meaning even a childhood room belongs to the same map as kings, wars and markets. Whether it taught dance, discipline or simply patience cannot be recovered, but the name still points to a place where young people were trusted enough to gather.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Edinburgh, Mcleod Street, Tynecastle Nursery School as Nursery School (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
