St Martin of Tours is a 4th-century Christian saint known for converting to Christianity after a vision in which he saw Jesus wearing the cloak he had shared with a beggar. His feast day, celebrated on November 11, was historically associated with various folk traditions, including the blessing of animals and the marking of the end of the harvest season.
