Gogar Castle still stands beside the Glasgow Road, its walled garden a green box clipped around the grounds. The wall marks the edge of private memory, hiding what the castle keeps from ordinary passing cars.

Castle Gogar, including its walled garden, was built by the Crichton family in the 16th century and later held by the Baillies of Castle Gogar.
