What is recorded here

Castle Terrace faces Edinburgh Castle, a steep ribbon of stone where the city tilts beneath the rock. People have walked past that guard tower since before written memory, likely hearing drums or feeling breath from the ramparts above. The terrace belongs to everyone yet resists easy description because it is both ordinary pavement and ancient threshold.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Edinburgh, Castle Terrace, General as General View (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
