Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Eclipse: the Gantocks, Upper Firth of Clyde as Paddle Steamer (19th Century)-(1854). Eclipse was a 19th-century paddle steamer built in 1854, located at the Gantocks in the Upper Firth of Clyde. It was lost in 1876 after running aground during a storm, resulting in the loss of all 12 crew members and significant cargo; its wreck remains an important archaeological site in Scottish maritime history.
