Easter Greenock Castle (site of)

Archaeological place

What is recorded here

Easter Greenock Castle (site of) marks a lost fortress where the Crawfurds held land from the late 1300s until the mid-1500s. The absence of a visible tower does not diminish the place; it invites imagination about the lives lived within walls now swallowed by earth and time.
Though the lands were owned by the Crawfurds from the end of the 14th century, they do not appear to have stayed here until about the mid-16th century.
