Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records East Wemyss, Sliding Cave as Cave (iron Age), Pictish Symbol Rock Carving(s) (pictish). East Wemyss Sliding Cave is a sea cave formed in Carboniferous sandstone, shaped by coastal erosion and wave action over millennia. The cave contains Pictish symbol rock carvings, indicating human activity during the Iron Age, and is part of a wider network of symbol-rich caves along the Fife coast.
