What is recorded here

No visible trace remains of the Moyge earthwork, yet a faint soilmark still curves across the pasture where a bank once stood. It probably marked a boundary, entrance or small enclosure near two ringforts, but the land has smoothed its edges and withheld its purpose.

In pasture, on E-facing slope. Depicted as arc (C c. 30m) formed by hachured bank S->NW on 1936 OS 6-inch map. Levelled; no visible surface trace of site. Arc, S->NW, visible in aerial photograph (GSIAP, R649) as soilmark of bank; continues NW->NNE as faint soilmark; sides to SSW, WNW and NNE slightly linear. Two ringforts (12795,12796) lie respectively c. 130m to SE and NNW. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
