Knockdoebeg West holds a low circular earthwork, ten metres across and one metre high, buried in rough pastureland near the site of the 1504 Battle of Knockdoe. The soil may have marked a watch point, a shelter or a boundary for people who faced that violent clash. Today the grass hides its edges, but the ground still carries the weight of a world where survival depended on reading the landscape at a glance.
