What is recorded here

In pasture, on steep NE-facing slope. Earthworks identified on aerial photograph (CUCAP 10 July 1969, AYO 48). Irregular shaped area (dims. 230m N-S; c. 160m E-W) defined by overgrown, undulating scrub on E side and remains of a small rectangular structure (c. 17m NW-SE; c. 19m NE-SW) to N. Rectangular structure defined by earthen and stone bank (Wth c. 2.1m; H c. 0.3-0.4m). A pentagonal area (dims. 44m NW-SE; c. 50m NE-SW) is to W. Pentagonal area defined by broad, low profile earthen bank (H c. 0.1m) to NE (L c. 44m), SE (L c. 34m), S (L c. 27m), SW (L c. 20m) and field boundary to WNW. Interior slopes down to NE with prevalent slope. Further traces of earthworks to S. Sheer slope drops to stream to E and ESB pylon to SE. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011
