Earthwork enclosure and dewpond 490m north of Barbury Castle

Scheduled monument

What is recorded here

Four hundred ninety metres north of Barbury Castle, a buried earthwork and dewpond wait beneath the soil. The enclosure belongs to the same old landscape that produced the castle, yet it keeps its own shape and purpose. Rain may have filled the pond, people may have drawn a line around the land, and forgetting may have done the rest.
The National Heritage List for England records Earthwork enclosure and dewpond 490m north of Barbury Castle as a scheduled monument. The saved point comes from the centre supplied by the official record. Listing does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
