The *Earl of Elgin* (UKHO 6987) was a British steamship that sank in 1894 off the coast of Wales after colliding with the French steamer *Mouche*. The wreck resulted in the loss of 11 lives and had no significant cargo of note; it is remembered for its tragic collision and the subsequent maritime safety discussions it contributed to.
