Castlehill Lodge on Humbie Road, Eaglesham, holds a small lodge and kennels beside a cottage, waiting for the footpath to remember them. The stones may have marked a boundary between a private garden and the public road, yet the function has faded from local memory. A person could have walked past daily, hearing dogs breathe through gaps in the wall while the lodge keeper vanished from the story. The place still keeps its shape, though the hand that shaped it has gone quiet.
