The Eagle Squadron Monument commemorates the American and British pilots who served in the three Royal Air Force Eagle Squadrons during World War II, before the United States officially entered the war. It is important as a symbol of the early transatlantic cooperation in the fight against Nazi Germany and honors those who laid the groundwork for the later Allied air forces.
