Why this matters
Dyserth Castle was built in the 13th century by the de Lacy family, Marcher lords who controlled much of north-east Wales during the medieval period. It is remembered as a strategic stronghold in the Anglo-Welsh borderlands and as an example of early medieval military architecture in Wales.
