Dupplin Castle Policies, Swines Quarry

Quarry (period Unassigned)

What is recorded here

Dupplin Castle Policies, Swines Quarry, is a scarred hollow beside ancient stones where heavy machines may have bitten through living rock. The exact age of the quarry remains unknown, but the shape of the wound suggests human hunger for building material. Perhaps workers dug through seasons until the castle needed no more stone, then left the hole open like an unfinished sentence.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Dupplin Castle Policies, Swines Quarry as Quarry (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
