Marian and I flew over Dupplin Castle Policies at dusk, when the land below turned purple and the engine dropped to a whisper. We saw no boundary, no owner, no warning light, only a living shape that waited for human eyes. I want to know what it shows, not whether it can be owned.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Dupplin Castle Policies, Harlaypoint Wood as Rig and Furrow (medieval) - (post Medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
Dupplin Castle was originally built by the Comyn family in the 13th century and later held by the Earls of Perth. It is historically significant as the site of the Battle of Dupplin Moor in 1332, a key event in the Wars of Scottish Independence.
