What is recorded here

Duns, 28b Castle Street, was a late 19th Century shop, a small sharp instrument in the life of the Scottish Borders. It is easy to imagine the clang of a shutter, the smell of tobacco or tallow, and a keeper behind the counter dealing in ordinary things. The number and street still point to that lost transaction, where a stranger became a neighbour through the simple act of buying, paying, and leaving.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Duns, 28b Castle Street as Shop (late 19th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
