Duns, 47 Castle Street is a nineteenth-century terraced house in the Scottish Borders, built when Castle Street crowded life into narrow rows. It may have hosted merchants, weavers or waiting families, their footsteps worn into wood and their arguments lost beneath roof tiles. The stone still stands beside its neighbours, unchanged in shape but empty of the hands that shaped it.
