Dunninald Castle, North Lodge and Gates date to 1824, when stone piers and a lodge framed the approach to a great house in Angus. They marked boundary and status, telling visitors that private land began where the road ended. The castle itself has vanished, but the entrance survives as a threshold between memory and forgetting.
