Templehouse on Dunlop Hill belonged to the Knights Templar before the Gemmells occupied it for five centuries, leaving a walled garden and small rooms behind a house that burned in the eighteenth century. The fire destroyed the family records, erasing older proof and perhaps older architecture, while the lane still leads past rubble toward the place where Minnie Gemmell last lived. What remains is a threshold between documented ownership and forgotten shape, preserving the temptation that a temple once stood beneath the farm.
