Built by the Royal Air Force in the 20th century, Pitreavie Castle and its associated radio station and aerial field were key components of Britain's military communications infrastructure during World War II and the Cold War. The site is remembered for its strategic role in early warning and defense systems, particularly as part of the RAF's Chain Home radar network.
