Mortared into the castle grounds, the pillbox waited through the twentieth century for orders that never came. It still stands beside Pitreavie Castle in Dunfermline, a small concrete chamber built to watch and resist. The war ended before it joined one, leaving the chamber empty and the purpose unfinished.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Dunfermline, Raf Pitreavie Castle, Pillbox as Pillbox (20th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Built during World War II as part of Britain's coastal defenses, the pillbox at RAF Pitreavie Castle, Dunfermline, was used to protect strategic military installations in the area. It is remembered as a remnant of Scotland's wartime military infrastructure.
