British tanks and trucks rumbled through Pitreavie Castle during the second world war, turning a ancient Fife landmark into a military transport hub. The Motor Transport Section garaged heavy vehicles beneath castle shadows, mixing medieval stone with roaring engines. Soldiers probably smelled petrol and grease inside chambers built for kings, while castle walls watched wheels turn instead of swords clash.
