Castle Drive still carries the name of royal ambition, but the engine house belongs to the twentieth century and the demand for power. Steel pipes and hot water may have moved through Pitreavie Castle when people stopped believing chambers needed magic to stay warm. The building is small enough to overlook and large enough to remember every time it rumbled through stone.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Dunfermline, Castle Drive, Raf Pitreavie Castle, Engine House as Engine House (20th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Raf Pitreavie Castle, including its Engine House, was constructed in the early 20th century as part of the Royal Air Force station established during World War I. It is remembered for its role in the development of military aviation in Scotland.
