Dùn Meadhonach

Fort

What is recorded here

Dùn Meadhonach is a hillfort on Colonsay that overlooks Port Mòr and Lower Kilchattan. It is one of several ancient defended places on the island, and its name means Middle Fort. People may have lived there, watched the sea road or kept stock away from marauders. The fort still stands as a quiet marker of human pride and fear on a small island.
Dùn Meadhonach is shown as a fort on the public map of Argyll and Bute. The saved point is the map point or the centre of its mapped shape.
